On Saturday, September 29th, the Haddonfield boys' cross-country team demonstrated why they’re the team to beat in South Jersey, as their freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams swept the South Jersey Open, held at Delsea High School. More than 750 runners from 60 different high schools participated in this major event on the South Jersey racing schedule.

In the 3200-meter freshman race, Gregory Pelose placed second overall, followed by Tim Proctor in 9th, Colin Gallagher in 17th, CyrusTrojano in 24th, and Brian McGrath in 32nd place. The Bulldawgs nudged out the Kingsway freshmen by seven points, and the Cherry Hill East freshmen by 13 points.

The Haddonfield JV team dominated the 5k junior varsity race. Junior Matt Stewart was the overall race winner, followed closely by junior Chris Ehrhart in 3rd, sophomores Chris Goings and James Spinelli in 4th and 10th, and junior Matt Troiani in 17th. Their 35 team points provided a comfortable margin of victory over second place Cherry Hill East (92points) and third place Moorestown (137 points).

Haddonfield senior Greg Halla was the overall winner of the boys Division 1 varsity race, completing the 5k course in 16:06. Junior Patrick Shea ran to a strong 3rd place finish, followed by sophomore Danny Brennan in 8th, freshman Austin Stoner in 9th, and junior John Greenberg in 11th place overall. Junior Alex Gigliotti and senior Rob Spaeth rounded out the Bulldawg varsity seven, finishing 19th and 23rd overall.

The strong team effort, with an impressive score of 32 points, secured the Division 1 win over second place Haddon Township (74 points) and third place Bishop Eustace Prep (75 points).  Showing their ability to punch above their weight, the Division 1 Bulldawgs triumphed over the larger Division 2 and 3 varsity teams with the fastest team time of the day.
