Chris Christie Brought a Friend the Last Time He Came to Haddonfield
Christie and Mitt Romney dropped by in 2009.
The last time Chris Christie came to Haddonfield, he brought a friend along.
It was an impromptu visit hastily arranged in 2009 when Christie was running for governor.
"I got a call a couple of hours before they where coming," Haddonfield Mayor Tish Colombi said. "Former Gov. Mitt Romney was in Philadelphia and he agreed to come here to endorse Christie. They did it on the Borough Hall steps."
Colombi said the word spread quickly about the last minute event and a small crowd gathered. That's all they needed.
"They had everything else with them in the back of a car," Colombi said. "They had a speaker stand and flags and banners."
Christie will be dropping in to town again today, but this time there was a little more planning. He is scheduled to speak to up to 650 people at a town hall meeting at the middle school at 3 p.m. This time, he is the governor and it's a solo act.
