A borough business owner said he intended to file a police complaint Friday for a prank that was disrupting his business.

Donald Haven Jr. told a reporter that a business deal gone bad ended up with a man posting a false announcement on Craigslist for free turkeys, asking respondents to call his real estate business number.

Haven said he had been interested in buying a boat from a National Park resident, but decided against it. The seller of the boat then retaliated by placing the false announcement, Haven said. He said the man sent him a text message about the hoax.

Haven said his "phones were blowing up" from people looking for a free turkey all day Friday and he intended to pass on the information to borough police. It was not immediately clear what police can do about the incident or if the complaint should have been filed in National Park.

Two ornamental flags and a yard sign were reported stolen on Sunday, Nov. 11. Both of the flags were swiped in the 100 block of Lansdowne Ave. One was an 3-by-5-foot American flag and the other was a Marine Corps flag of the same size. More than a dozen similar thefts of ornamental flags have been reported from borough homes over the past month.

The wooden yard sign was reported stolen from the 100 block of Glenwood Road.

A backpack was reported stolen from a vehicle in the unit block of Chestnut Street on Nov. 8. It belonged to a contractor working in the area.
