Is There a Grinch On the Loose?

Criminal mischief seeks to sink Christmas joy.

Could there be a Grinch on the loose in Haddonfield?

Borough police reported four incidents of Christmas light cords being snipped, three at one home.

A resident in the 200 block of Lincoln Ave. reported Christmas-light cords had been cut three times last week. On Nov. 27, lights attached to a bush in the front yard were cut overnight. Then it occurred again on Nov. 27 and Dec. 1.

Three separate light strands were cut and the damage was estimated at $150.

But that wasn't the only victim.

A resident in the 200 block of Hawthorne Ave. reported on Nov. 28 that a Christmas-light cord was cut overnight in the front yard.

And, there's even a sign the Grinch got started early.

A resident in the 400 block of Belmont Ave. reported the tail feathers, wings and Pilgrim's hat of a Thanksgiving turkey display on the front porch was vandalized on Nov. 20.

There was no reported vandalism of this sort last year. But a 7-foot menorah was stolen then from in front of the library.

There are people whose joy is to take away other people's - cause they have none of their own. They are pitiable.
