Patrick K. Bender, 59, of Haddonfield died Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden.

He was the beloved husband of Raynel Otero; awesome father of Ramon and Rose Bender; dear brother of Charlotte Bender (Bob Hassan) of AZ, John Bender (Nan Roche) of College Park, MD and Peter Bender (Fran) of Chicago, IL, and uncle of Daniel Bender of Washington, DC, and Sarah Bender of Chicago.

Pat graduated from Kent State University and earned his Ph.D. in biophysics from the University of Virginia. He was on the faculty of Virginia Tech and the Coriell Institute before becoming a Program Officer at the National Institute of Mental Health in Rockville, MD. An avid tennis player, Pat is former president of the Haddonfield Tennis Association and a member of Green Valley Tennis Club.   

Pat’s family will receive and visit with friends on Saturday, from 2-3:45 p.m., at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield; where the Family invites all to participate in his Reminiscence Service at 4 p.m.  Interment, private.  Memorial donations may be made in Pat’s name to the American Heart Assoc., 1 Union Street, #301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
