Obituary: Lois Wheeler

Services will be held at a later date.

 

Lois Wheeler, 95, a longtime Haddonfield resident, died on Aug. 24 at Cadbury of Cherry Hill.

She was born on June 17, 1917 in Centropolis, KS, to Harry and Carrie Fisher. Lois grew up with three sisters and a brother in rural Kansas. She attended the University of Kansas before moving to New Jersey and later graduated from Rutgers University. She obtained her master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. An intellectual, she was a member of Four Sigma and Minerva (Triple 9).

Lois loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her son John A. Wheeler and daughter Patricia W. Green, both of NC; the grandmother of Robert A. (Mary) Green, William H. (Amy) Green, Elisabeth A. Green, and John F. (Laura) Green. Her great grandchildren are Rachel, Michael, Theresa, and Andrew Green; Rebekah, Matthew, and Alyssa Green; Austin Reynolds; and Emma, Samantha, and Gabriel Green.

Additionally, Lois is survived by a cousin Alan (June) Fisher; nieces and nephews Alan (Marilyn) McMasters, Harold McMasters,  Miriam (Larry) Ferguson, Rosalind Rappard, Gary (Laura) Rappard, Julie Brenneman, Janet (David) Newkirk, James Souder and their families.

During the more than 70 years, Mrs. Wheeler lived in Haddonfield, she had been active in several organizations and clubs, including the Haddonfield Plays and Players.

The family will hold services privately at a later date. Condolences for the family may be left at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services.
