Motorist Hits Pedestrian on Chestnut Street

A motorist turning onto Chestnut Street in Haddonfield did not see a pedestrian in the crosswalk.

A pedestrian was struck by a car Wednesday evening on Chestnut Street at Kings Highway in Haddonfield, according to an eyewitness.

Heavy rain and reduced visibility caused police to close the intersection at 5:50 p.m. for medical personnel to arrive and evaluate the victim, a middle-aged woman.

According to a source on the scene, a woman wearing dark clothing stepped off the curb to cross Chestnut Street. A motorist, in the center lane on Kings Highway, was turning onto Chestnut Street when their car struck the pedestrian. The car was not traveling fast and stopped at the scene.

The woman did not have any visible injuries. The responders on the scene were evaluating her to determine if she needed to go to the hospital.
