Kudos to the Haddon Township for having a solicitation ordinance in place. Here in Collingswood solicitors are suppose to get a permit. After dark last Friday night Feb 1st a man both knocked at the door and rang the bells several times. The door is solid so I cannot tell who is there. Thinking it was someone who forgot their key, I opened ther door, to find a scrufty man standing very close to the door with a clip board, no badge in sight, I said sorry and closed the door. Then called what I thouht was the Collingswood Police Dept, but got a shared dispatcher. When I told him of the happening and starting asking if solicitors are allowed after dark he had no clue. In fact he started making excuses for the man. I called the boro on Monday and was told to call the Collingswood Police Dept. When I did, the woman answering the phone did not have a clue about solicitors either. She put me on hold & then disconnected me. I thought one's phone number always showed up on their caller ID. Colls Police Dept never attempted to return the call. What a difference a property line can make. Again Kudos to Haddon Township.
