Haddonfield officials are monitoring the Evans Mill Dam tonight, but are confident no borough residents are threatened by rising water there in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Water from Evans Pond flows from Pennypacker Creek and Cooper River. Cherry Hill officials evacuated a low-lying area down stream from the dam this afternoon because of fears it could breach.

Haddonfield Administrator Sharon McCullough said local and county officials are keeping an eye on Evans Mill Dam, but do not think it posses any threat to Haddonfield residents.

"We already did voluntary evacuations of three of four homes on Coles Mill Road," McCullough said at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening. "A fourth resident decided to say. I just drove by there and the water was just at the bank of the creek and not approaching the homes."

McCullough also reported four downed trees but no injuries or property damage. The trees were on Bradshaw Avenue, Chews Landing Road, Warwick Road and Friends Avenue.
