Smoking Good, Chef's Choice: Little Louie's BBQ
Barbecue comes to Collingswood.
Philadelphia chef and pit master Gerald Dougherty brings his signature style to Little Louie's BBQ on Haddon Avenue in Collingswood.
Dougherty put in time at the Bellevue and Rittenhouse hotels in Philadelphia before coming across the bridge.
He's betting on a winning combination of smoke, sauce and dry rub for a winning hand in South Jersey.

I've eaten at Little Louie's a number of times and have had great experiences each time. The portions on my plate were quite large. The smoked turkey I had was delectable and tender as can be. Service was outstanding. Our waitress (nicknamed Patsy because her hairstyle resembled Patsy Stone's hairdo from "Absolutely Fabulous") was outstanding, and other staff members present were equally attentive to our needs.

If you're going to have a good bbq place, you should be able to make good ribs above all else. I went there. My ribs were so dried out and hard I couldn't even eat half of them. Any chef would have seen the quality, or lack thereof, of the food that was on my plate and not allowed it out of the kitchen. Maybe they are still perfecting their techniques, but I will never go back there and waste the money.
