Watch the 2012 Transit of Venus at Rowan University
The public will get a chance to watch the celestial event from the observatory deck at Science Hall.
When Venus begins its transit across the sun at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday, you can get a front-row seat atop the observation deck at Rowan University.
On the roof of Science Hall, beside the university’s 16-inch DFM telescope, the public will be able to watch the twice-a-century celestial event unfold, as Venus makes its last trek across the face of the sun until 2117.
The event will open at 5:45 p.m., well ahead of the transit, and will continue through the last rays of sunset, around 8:30 p.m.
If the weather turns bad or clouds obscure the sunset, live streams from webcasts around the planet will be projected in the dome at the Edelman Planetarium.
This event is open to the public free of charge. Visitors are welcome to park in Lot A off Rt. 322 in Glassboro.
