When Is Trick-or-Treating?
A comprehensive round-up of adjusted, official Halloween celebration times in several nearby towns.
From Collingswood to Cherry Hill, candy collecting times for the inner-ring suburbs of Philadelphia have been thrown slightly out of whack by post-Sandy clean-up.
In the aftermath of the storm, some towns elected to move their trick-or-treating to the end of the week. Collingswood, for example, settled on Saturday; Haddonfield opted for Friday.
But adding to the confusion was an executive order issued by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Wednesday that officially moved all celebrations not already rescheduled to Monday, Nov. 5.
After a mild uproar, Collingswood residents Robin Brownfield and Tracy Farquhar took matters into their own hands on Facebook, compiling an updated list of the trick-or-treating hours in several local communities for this weekend.
Here's the breakdown.
Friday, Nov. 2
- Audubon—3 to 7 p.m.
- Haddonfield—2 to 6 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 3
- Collingswood—12 to 4 p.m.
- Oaklyn—1 to 5 p.m., with a 5:30 p.m. costume parade.
Monday, Nov. 5
- Cherry Hill—3 to 7 p.m.
- Haddon Township—3 to 6 p.m.
- Woodlynne—3 to 6 p.m.
- Pennsauken—3 to 8 p.m.

I dont have little ones, but I think the most fun some kids have is the Hallowen parties at school, so maybe . oh I dont know

Living in Haddon Township I was disappointed when I learned yesterday that our commissioners decided to reschedule the already rescheduled Treat or Treating from Saturday to Monday. Even though my children are grown and that doesn't equate in my position of when Treat or Treating should take place, I still feel there were no good reasons for the township to move T or T from Saturday to Monday.
Looking at the above schedule and remembering back to when I last T or T some 45 years ago, I smiled remembering how we always wanted to maximize our intake of Halloween candy. One of the ways to achieve the best results was the crossover into the next town. The older kids (teens) of Haddon Township now have the upper hand in doing so. Depending on what area of the township they live in the older kids can T or T in either Haddonfield or Audubon on Friday, either Collingswood or Oaklyn on Saturday and wrap it up in the township on Monday! If only the candy bars were still as big as we Baby Boomers all remember they were back when we were kids!
