Organizing for Action South Jersey Thanks Rep. Rob Andrews

As part of Organizing for Action New Jersey's Bus for Progress Tour OFA South Jersey volunteers and supporters visited Rep. Rob Andrews' office in Haddon Heights on Friday, 9/6/13 to say thank you to Rep. Andrews and all of the New Jersey Members of Congress who have supported their issues. Those issues include immigration reform, climate change reform, gun violence prevention through expanded background checks, support for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), and a fair bargain for the middle class. In addition to Rep. Andrews the group also thanked Rep. Frank Pallone, Rep. Russ Holt, Rep. Bill Pascrell, Rep. Albio Sires, Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. and Sen. Robert Menendez for all of their hard work in support of their issues.

OFA New Jersey’s Bus for Progress also visited the offices of Members of Congress who they feel need to go back to work in Washington with this message in mind -  “As you go back to Washington on September 9th, this session we want a vote on immigration reform, work done on climate change reform, a bill passed for expanded background checks to help prevent gun violence, and work done to give the middle class a good bargain without disturbing the full faith and credit of the United States.”

That message was given to Rep. Jon Runyan, Rep. Frank LoBiondo, Rep. Chris Smith, Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, and Rep. Leonard Lance when the bus visited each of their offices on Friday.

OFA volunteers nationwide spent the August congressional recess organizing their communities around the issues the American people voted for in 2012, like immigration reform, affordable healthcare, combating climate change, gun violence prevention and a better bargain for the middle class, among others. OFA’s “Action August” volunteers made it clear to their representatives in Washington that their expectation is to put the American people before D.C. politics.

This event was part of a state-wide bus tour organized by OFA-NJ volunteers to underscore the importance to New Jersey of these issues. The bus included activists for each of the issues being worked on by OFA who spoke to the group as each stop.

At the Rep. Andrews’ bus stop Eric Kipnis and Meryl Greene, OFA South Jersey Chapter Leaders made it clear that the group’s work has not ended with August – “There’s much more to do going forward”, they said.
