The Executive Committee and several of the gardeners will be traveling to Harrisburg to receive the award in December.
The community garden was the first initiative of SustainableHaddonTownship and was just a seed of an idea a year ago. Since then, the location was determined, grants were received and support from the governing body of HaddonTownship was secured. Raised beds were made with the assistance of Rutgers Master Gardeners of CamdenCounty and plantings started in April.
Currently, there are 36 beds of various sizes and 21 gardeners. There are still about 40 residents on the waiting list.
