Haddon Township's John Lauriello Honored During County Memorial Day Services

World War II Marine Corps veteran and Haddon Township resident John Lauriello was honored with the Special Recognition Award and Medal by Camden County this weekend, according to The Retrospect's Facebook page.

The honor was part of the County's Memorial Day celebration Saturday morning in Camden. Lauriello, USMC Veteran John Welsh of Somerdale, Navy Veteran Edward Hill of Pennsauken Township and US Marine Corps Aviation Veteran Linwood Allen of Berlin, the county announced earlier this week.

“These brave Veterans agreed to share their personal knowledge of the hardships and horrors of battle so that future generations may learn from their first-hand account of World War II.  The documentary recounts their stories of service on the land, sea and air, from the kamikaze-scarred Intrepid to remote airbases in Papua New Guinea, and from the enemy-infested jungles of Guam to the bloody beach at Iwo Jima,” McDonnell said in a release issued earlier this week.  “We thank them for their service to our nation, and for allowing us to document their contributions and sacrifices.”
