Intersections Along Grove Street to Close Due to Utility Work

Various intersections along Grove Street will be closed due to utility work planned by the Borough of Haddonfield, Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, announced on Friday.

“Grove Street is a well-traveled route between Haddonfield and Cherry Hill.  If this road is part of your commute, please plan an alternant route during the construction period,” Leonard said.  “Please be alert for traffic pattern changes, and be observant of posted instructions or directions from police officers whenever you are driving through a construction zone.”

Electronic message boards will be installed along Grove Street beginning on Tuesday, May 27, alerting drivers of the upcoming detour. 

The signs, to be located in front of the Grove Street Pumping Station and at Redwood Avenue, will read:  On or about July 1, 2014, Grove Street will be closed for 15 Days. 

Haddonfield has divided the utility work into two phases.  Phase one includes the replacement of the water main from Maple Avenue to Coles Mill Road. 

Phase two will encompass the reconfiguration and replacement of portions of the sewer main.  It is anticipated that the work will be completed in 100 days. 

The exact timing of the project is dependent upon the weather and other factors.

This utility work is being done in advance of the Camden County Department of Public Work’s reconstruction of the roadway, and installation of traffic calming measures and other upgrades.
