Purple Ribbons for a Very Good Cause

An effort to help the family of a little girl with cancer is underway in Haddonfield.

Have you seen the purple ribbons popping up all over Haddonfield?

They're for a very good cause.

Katie Van Arnem is a third-grader at the Central Elementary school battling lymphoma cancer. She is getting chemo therapy through February. Her mother, Casey Glazer, was a candidate for the borough school board, but dropped out when Katie was diagnosed. She also quit her job to stay home with her little girl.

A classmate of Katie and her mom, Kris Bean and her daughter Rebecca, started a purple-bow fundraiser to raise money for the family and to show love and support.

"The bows are $5 each and all of the proceeds go to Katie and Casey," said Sigrid Kiep, another organizers of the effort. "The idea is to help them out financially and also let them know people are thinking of them. Purple is Katie's favorite color."

The ribbons can be purchased by emailing Kris Bean t, krisbean1231@gmail.com.
