Reopening of High School Football Stadium Set for Thursday

The artificial-turf field project was hard fought and yielded political consequences in Haddonfield.

The $1 million makeover of the Haddonfield Memorial High School football stadium complex is set for a grand opening on Thursday.

The Bulldawgs will take on Audubon in the opening game of the 2013 football season. The artificial-turf field project was hard fought, even though $600,000 of the funds for it were raised privately.

"We are planning on having a brief ceremony in regard to the new field prior to the game," School Superintendent Richard Perry said. "This ceremony will begin at 6:45 p.m. and include the mayor and a couple of former mayors speaking along with a couple of BOE members. Youth sports teams will be the first to run out onto the field followed by the football teams."
