Wine, Women and...Boots?

Haddonfield's Z's Treasures boutique at 145 Kings Highway East holds a wine tasting and shopping event Thursday.

Looking for custom boots inspired by ancient Greek and Ottoman Empire patterns, translated into silk, leather and suede?

We've got the place for you.

Z's Treasures, at 145 Kings Highway East, features exotic styles that dress up or dress down, but are not likely to go unnoticed.

"I grew up in Turkey and I was always interested in designs the Ottoman Empire came up with, especially tulips," said Zeynep Yurderi, owner of Z's Treasures. "I had them on bedspreads and pillows, so when I started designing, my husband said why don't you do shoes and boots from these designs. That's how it all started."

As if the spiky heels and provocative designs weren't enough to draw in adventurous shoppers, Yurderi stacked the deck tonight with a wine-tasting event.

"It's like a holiday party for our clients," she said. "It's a fun night for the girls to get out have a couple drinks and, at the same time, shop."

Yurderi and her husband live in Moorestown but picked Haddonfield in 2009 to establish Z's Treasures.

"We were looking for a small town instead of a big mall," she said. "When we came to Haddonfield, it was so perfect. It was a sunny day and people were so nice. I thought it was going to be a just perfect location."

But it hasn't been all roses.

"There was a woman who left us a really nasty message last month about a sexy Santa suit we had in our window," Yurderi said. "Nobody's naked, no nudity implied. We got a message from her and she just goes off. She said it was trashy and nobody wants to see that on Kings Highway and that she's collecting signatures.

"It's just a short sexy Santa outfit with boots on."

She paused, and then laughed about it.

"Everybody wants to be unique and different," Yurderi said. "If you got a problem with being sexy, then don't be."

Yurderi said a group of New York shoppers have chartered a bus for tonight's wine tasting and shopping event, which is free open to everyone. She said her entire store's merchandise is also 20 percent off tonight.

The boutique features boots and jewelry and other specialty clothing, like the sexy Santa outfit. Prices range from $180 to $650 for boots and jewelry ranges from $5 to $500. Store hours are Monday to Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday, noon-6 p.m. The wine tasting runs from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight.
