5 Things You Need to Know This Week

This list will likely make you smarter.

1. The Board of Education will meet twice this week. School officials will meet for an annual retreat at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Archer and Greiner law firm on Haddon Avenue. The meeting is open to the public. The board is expected to receive and discuss a five-year plan for the district from administrators. The board will also meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Middle-Central school library for its regular meeting. Appointments for school principal vacancies are expected to be on the agenda.

2. The next phase in the Bancroft redevelopment planning meetings will be on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Hall. Planners are expected to narrow three choices for redevelopment of the 18.7-acre parcel on Kings Highway East.  

3. The Board of Commissioners will meet in a work session at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Municipal Hall. The meeting is open to the public. Commissioners will discuss policies and actions but will not formally vote on any measures.

4. The Haddonfield Public Library hosts opera night on Wednesday. A free screening of La Traviata, directed by Franco Zeffirelli, with Placido Domingo, will be featured.

5.The Haddonfield Education Trust will host its fifth-annual golf tournament and family barbecue Saturday at Tavistock Country Club. The trust, a nonprofit that raises money to enhance the educational experience of borough students, will host the event. For more information please call: 856-429-4130, ext. 206.
