Haddon Twp. Rocks and Runs Saturday

A benefit concert for Sandy victims and the sixth annual Turkey Trot 5K and fun run are on tap.

Looking for a way to work off some of that Thanksgiving dinner?

We've got just the thing, or, rather, things.

Two events will keep the locals busy Saturday from just about dawn to after dusk.

The sixth annual Haddon Township Turkey Trot kicks off at 8:45 a.m. with a 1-mile walk/fun run and a 5K race at 9 a.m. It begins and ends at the Municipal Building at 135 Haddon Ave.

The first 400 entrants will receive a free long-sleeve T-shirt and proceeds from this year’s race will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, according to a township news release.

A breakfast and awards ceremony will follow at the Pour House on Haddon Avenue.

Race day registration is from 7:30 to 8:50 a.m. at the Westmont Firehouse. Participants can pre-register on line at https://register.dqtridu.com/Register/?event=14625 or in person at the Pour House today, Nov. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. Entry fees are $20 for pre-registration and $25 the day of the race, according to the release.

The evening of Nov. 24 also rocks, literally.

The township is sponsoring Westmont Rocks the Blocks benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy victims.

The free music event will take place in three locations, all within a block of each other. Barry Hollander will open at Espressit, 18 Haddon Ave., from 7 to 8 p.m.; Precher plays two sets at Blue, 43 Haddon Ave., from 7 to 8 and 9 to 10 p.m.; DJ Matt Cappy spins at CrossFit Centro, 24 Haddon Ave., from 8 to 9 p.m.

All donations will benefit the Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.
