Garden Club's 25th Annual Herb Sale May 7

Pineapple Sage, rosemary and Tthyme. What more could a mom want for Mother's Day?

Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Haddonfield Garden Club’s herb sale will showcase a bounty of plants in the center of town.

Herbs make ideal gifts for moms who want to infuse their cooking with fresh flavors.

Although herbs are not difficult to grow and many cooks adore fresh herbs, not every gourmet has the interest or a green thumb. And even those who do, may not have a sunny space to grow plants.

“The herbs are wonderful,” said club member Jolyne Dalzell. “And there are people there who will answer your questions about how to use them and so forth.”

The Haddonfield Garden Club’s plant sale, its 25th annual event, is its only fundraiser. Proceeds help fund a $1,000 scholarship given to a graduating Haddonfield Memorial High School senior who plans to study horticulture in college.

Herbs won’t be the only thing growing at the sale. Customers can look for potted perennials culled from members’ own plants.

There will also be floral arrangements for sale for customers seeking cut-flower bouquets for themselves or mom.

Some bouquets will be created on-the-spot, so customers with specific requests can buy custom-designed presents for mom.

There will also be baked goods for sale, so mother won’t have to tend a hot oven.
