There’s Still Time to Get First Night 2013 Buttons

Haddonfield's annual New Year's celebration kicks off 6 p.m. Dec. 31

Haddonfield's First Night committee has 10 reasons to ring in 2013 at the annual, alcohol-free, town-wide New Year's Eve celebration: 

  1. Thriller! Watch the Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience starring Joby Rogers.
  2. “Year of the Tribute” provides an opportunity to experience favorites like Frank Sinatra (Marty Babitz), the Grateful Dead (Steal Your Face), and the Four Seasons/Jersey Boys (the Unexpected Boys).
  3. Broadway comes to Haddonfield. See favorite scenes from the musicals Les Miserables, HMS Pinafore and Jersey Boys.
  4. Crazy Rhythm Fancy Feet will entertain with American dance styles.
  5. Iona is back performing the quartet’s unique and popular blend of pan-Celtic music, with its Scottish, Irish, Welsh influences.
  6. Laugh out loud with Eight is Never Enough and their off-Broadway laugh-fest. 
  7. Enrich your mind. Renowned re-enactor Robert O’Connor as Ward Lamon, Abraham Lincoln’s personal bodyguard. Find out why he wasn’t at the Ford Theater on that fateful night. Also, catch civil rights activist William Still dramatically portrayed by Keith Henley.
  8. KidZone! Enter from the back of Central School from 6 to 8:45 p.m. and find a family-friendly New Year’s Eve Party! Music, movement, magic and more will delight and entertain the youngest revelers.
  9. Celebrate the arts on New Year’s Eve! Scores of world-class performances appealing to every age and taste, at a dozen indoor venues downtown. 
  10. Get ready to oooh, aaah. Enjoy the wonder and splendor of an amazing fireworks display after the 9 p.m. countdown by the outdoor stage at the town clock.

Special bonus for revelers, celebrate Haddonfield’s Tricentennial  

Sweet T’s Bakeshop in Kings Court is creating a three-layer cake with each layer representing 100 years of Haddonfield. The cake will be displayed at the downtown stage where all will sing happy birthday to Haddonfield at 9 p.m. Everyone who stops by Sweet T’s after the fireworks will get a piece of cake.

Shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes beginning at 6 p.m. with stops at the Methodist Church, Central/Middle School, Kings Court Gazebo, opposite Starbucks. Indian King Tavern, Haddon Fortnightly and Haddonfield Memorial High School. 

New this year, the Commissary at Kings Court. Participating Haddonfield restaurants will offer "small plates", ranging from $5-$8. Tables and chairs will be available and the band No Commitment will play at the Gazebo.
