Global Frackdown Film Screening: Gasland Part II

Local advocates and community leaders will host on Friday October 18th, a public
screening of the new feature documentary Gasland Part II, a film chronicling the grave social, environmental and public health impacts from fracking, the highly controversial gas drilling method that is being expanded throughout the nation. Following the screening, advocates from Food & Water Watch, a consumer protection group, will answer questions and discuss local fracking threats.

In this follow-up to his Oscar-nominated film Gasland
filmmaker Josh Fox takes a deeper look at the dangers of fracking. Gasland Part II, which premiered at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival, shows how the stakes have been raised in one of the most important environmental issues facing our nation today. The film argues that the fossil fuel industry’s portrayal of natural gas as a clean and safe alternative to oil is a myth, and that fracking inevitably leads to contaminated air and water, human illness and increased climate change.

This event is one of over 200 coordinated Global Frackdown events on October 19th
aiming to raise awareness and create solidarity across a global movement. Learn more and RSVP at www.globalfrackdown.org.
