First, let me preface that the structure of the building for a DIY wedding is amazing for someone with the time, speed and assistance to do so! A lot of work but its a beautiful building!

Yet, the positives end there.

My wedding at Haddon Fortnightly/3-16-13

The most humiliating experience of my life. I'm just glad I had enough people around me to love me on my wedding day to protect me.

Well, the "overseer", a black man (I'm black) seemed to be disgusted at the sight of me. It was a cold rainy day, some people got there a little early (within my rental range but we were decorating). My decorator tried to let them in and he refused several times before finally doing it.

During my photo session, a friend of mine fell on the entry steps as soon as the event started. The drinks had only started pouring, but this friend has a dropped foot and it happens sometimes....My guests included doctors and EMTs...

I was oblivious to everything until during the reception as I'm greeting guests, someone hits me in the back. It turns out to be the coordinator that I was working with. She accused me of being a "LIAR" and "This is all your fault". She accused me of having full capacity, drinking upstairs DURING the ceremony, having some wild, orgy like drunk fest. She threatened to end the ceremony. The capacity was 150. I gave her the number 150. With the head count, including children, it was around 135. People who did not rsvp attended ceremony and left before i had a chance to speak to them. It was a very solemn Christian ceremony and the overseer gave the coordinator the impression that we were destroying the property. I couldn't believe how horrifying my wedding was turning out to be.

The overseer apparently served around 180 plates, when i reserved 150. However he did not mention that the servers were using more than one plate, especially for the wedding party and parents tables. This man, I think I remember their names, but I will not do that online, LIED and accused us of being out of control. I could not have been more upset. My bridal party got upset and had to be calmed. Nobody was drunk; the par wasn't open more than a half hour before she barged in to save her precious DIRTY, DUSTY, half-working kitchen (food spoiled in the fridge!) building.

I wanted to give a nice review, I wanted to get married there so badly I didn't even look at other places that would've treated me better than this. Thank God, my Maid of Honor spoke reasonably with her and another person she brought to kick us out, and that woman quickly dismissed everything and left.

A week later I was told i wasn't giving back the security deposit b/c I left the trash bags (gasp) where they put the trash outside. We cleaned the area, but honestly, by the time it was over I was so disgusted. I asked if I could pick it up the following morning from the curb and was agreed, however at the B&B we stayed in (AMAZING!!! YOU MUST GO TO THE HADDONFIELD INN!) the proprietor informed me that he was sure the city would collect it as it does for me. After the experience, I never wanted to see the place again, so it was well worth the security deposit not to go back.

I used to go to Haddonfield just to drive by the Fortnightly, now I avoid it. I don't like looking at that building. I assure you, this is not a one-sided situation. Guests, my DJ and other vendors were all appalled at what they saw. They were offended by being accused of ruining my day.

I had been wanting for months to submit my review, but it was just too embarrassing. I honestly didn't want some generalizing person assuming that I MUST have been a bad patron. I was not. Everything I saved I put into that place and I was proud of the way things turned out. Then one person set out to ruin it all.

Maybe you'll have a better experience, but I really wish I'd went elsewhere.
