First Night Is Kids Night in Haddonfield

Haddonfield's First Night annual, family-friendly celebration takes place on New Year's Eve

Haddonfield's 16th annual, family-friendly New Years Eve celebration is shaping up as a memorable night, especially for kids.

The celebration of the arts will feature a busy lineup in the KidZone that includes music, dance, laughter and magic.

Children’s entertainer and singer-songwriter Meg Russell will perform songs from her CD Hat Parade during her two shows in the KidZone. Back for his 14th year, magician Brian Richards will wow audiences while Mr. Scott, The Music Man, will offer surprises of his own.

The Mei Mei Dancers are young performers ages 7 to 12 who bring to life the customary New Year’s celebratory dance. Audiences won’t want to miss their spinning handkerchiefs, Chinese drums and flowing peacock skirts.

The KidZone, located inside Haddonfield Central/Middle School, will be packed with activities starting at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The fun wraps up in time for an early family-friendly countdown and fireworks display at 9 p.m. at the outdoor stage by the Town Clock over Kings Highway

In addition, First Night Haddonfield 2014’s four headliners, also look for  ABBA-mania, the Depue Brothers Band, the Unexpected Boys and Gregory Grene’s Acoustic Mix.  Haddonfield’s Kings Court will be transformed into a street-fair commissary with small-plate dishes and live music.

In all, more than 40 different performances will take place in 20 venues along Kings Highway, Haddonfield from 6 p.m.
