Battleship New Jersey to Host Thanksgiving for Homeless Vets, Active-Duty Soldiers

The meal will be served by volunteers from the crew, and has a long list of sponsors. Residents can gather to welcome them at 10:30 a.m., with free parking in Lot #2.

Homeless veterans and active-duty military personnel from the McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and Dover Air Force Bases will get a full-course turkey dinner on Thanksgiving, courtesy of the Battleship New Jersey and Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Volunteers in the ship's crew will serve the meal in the mess on the storied Battleship New Jersey. Public well-wishers are invited to welcome them at the pier at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The Camden Parking Authority is chipping in with free parking in lot #2, diagonal from the Susquehanna Bank Center.
