Dorothy Read, Former Tavistock Golf Champ, Haddonfield Resident, Dies at 86

Services will be held Monday.

Dorothy W. Read, 86, of Collingswood Manor, formerly of Haddonfield, died on Tuesday.

Dorothy graduated from Friends Select in Philadelphia and Beaver College.  She worked in the family drugstore, Holman Enterprises and most recently at Eckinhoff Buick. She was the women’s golf champion three years at Tavistock Country Club and she also excelled at bowling and bridge.

Dorothy is best known for her positive attitude, cheerful disposition and great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her family and many, many friends.

Predeceased by her parents Dorothy F. and C. Carlton, II and her brother C. Carlton, III. Survived by her sister-in-law Debra H. Read of Haddonfield, three nephews: Charles (Emilie), John (Dana) and William (Catherine) and six great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at 10 AM on Monday, followed by a 11 a.m. memorial service at Grace Episcopal Church, 19 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to Grace Church or to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 424 East 92nd St., New York, NY 10128.
