Eleanor Pennypacker Barclay, Haddonfield Resident, Moorestown Friends Teacher, Dies at 86

Services will be held on Monday. She was a congregant at First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield for 60 years.

Eleanor Pennypacker Barclay, 86, a lifelong Haddonfield resident, died on Monday.

Music, family and church were at the core of her life. She was a Temple University Music Education graduate and taught at Moorestown Friends School. She was a congregant at First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield for 60 years, sang in the Chancel Choir and played in the Moore Handbell Choir for decades. Mrs. Barclay was also a member of session, a deacon; a member of the United Presbyterian Women and was a circle leader for many years.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Mary Bergen Pennypacker; wife of the late Ralph P. Barclay, Jr.; mother of Eleanor Barclay Geoghegan (Arthur); Ralph P. Barclay; Susan Barclay Onofrio (Marshall) and the late James R. Barclay; grandmother of 5, great-grandmother of 4 and cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 20 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield, NJ 08033; where her memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.  Interment will be private.
