Elsie Weber Chew, Longtime Haddonfield Resident, Dies at 85

Services will be on Tuesday.

Elsie Weber Chew, 85, a longtime Haddonfield resident, died Thursday.

Mrs. Chew was the daughter of the late John and Olga Weber, owners of Weber’s Hof Brau in Camden and the Silver Lake Inn in Clementon.  She had been a longtime member of The Haddon Field Club, Tavistock Country Club, Wedgewood Swim Club and at one time an involved member of the Haddonfield Y’s Men-ettes. 

She was the wife of the late Donald H., Sr.; mother of Donald H., Jr. (Susan Emerson), of New York City, Richard W. (Deborah), of Vero Beach, FL and Kenneth R. (Susan W.), of Haddonfield; grandmother of Brian (Brooks) of Fairhope, AL, Caitlin C. Capone (Austin) of Blacksburg, VA, Carlie of Tampa, FL, Emily of San Francisco, CA, Justine of Wilmington, NC, Michael  and Benjamin both of NYC, NY; great grandmother of Anne Chapline and Catherine Kildare Chew, both of Fairhope, AL and Cherished sister of Meg Irish of PA.

All are invited to her Memorial Mass, Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Christ the King Church, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield.  Burial will be at the Locustwood Cemetery, Cherry Hill.  Memorial donations in Mrs. Chew’s name may be made to The Children's Hospital  of Philadelphia Foundation,  Lockbox #1352,  P.O. Box 8500, Philadelphia, PA 19178-1352, where they will be directed to the Cancer Research Center.
