Obituary: Alice Elizabeth 'Betty' Salvo

Alice Elizabeth “Betty” Salvo, 79, of Haddonfield, died on Sunday.

She was the beloved wife of Dr. John P. Salvo Sr.; loving mother of Stephen, Donna Salvo-Ferrigno, Kathy Mongon (Bill), Dr. John P. Salvo Jr. (Paige) and the late Rosemarie Sarandoulias (Chris).  She is also survived by six grandchildren: Louis Sarandoulias, Olivia Sarandoulias, Zachary Mongon, Brian Mongon, Jack Salvo and Katie Salvo as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her sister Pat Maloney (Tom).

Born in Philadelphia, Betty grew up in Moss Point, MS, and Hammonton, the elder daughter of Clayton and Alice Cooper. She and John met in 7th grade. They married in 1958, settled in Medford,and relocated to Haddonfield in 1987.

Betty was an active member of the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Women’s Board, working for many years on numerous fund raising activities. She was a medical lab technician at Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia, she sold real estate in Medford and worked as the business manager for Philadelphia Orthopaedic Associates. Her favorite role was as loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Salvo’s family will receive friends on Saturday, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at Christ the King Church, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield; where her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m.  Interment, private.
