Obituary: The Honorable Robert E. Gladden

Services will be held on Thursday.

The Honorable Robert E. Gladden, 91, a longtime Haddonfield resident died Monday.

He was the beloved husband for 62 years of Grace (nee Cavallaro); loving father of Robert Jr. of Merchantville, Jeffrey of Moorestown, Stephen of Maple Shade, Eileen Moon of Medford, Michael of Berwyn, PA, and Norman of Marlton; dear grandfather of 13.

Judge Gladden served in the Army during WWII, then began a distinguished career as an attorney in Camden in 1951.  He had been the secretary of the state Senate from 1966-1985. He left his legal practice in 1985 when he was appointed to the state Superior Court in Camden. He enjoyed serving on the bench until his retirement in 2001.  Additionally, he was a member of Tavistock country club and the Lions Club of Camden for many years.

Judge Gladden’s family will receive friends on Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon, at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield.

His Funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 PM at St. Rose of Lima Church, Kings Highway and 4th Ave., Haddon Heights. Entombment, Locustwood Cemetary., Cherry Hill. Memorial donations may be made in Judge Gladden’s name to the Alzheimer's Association SJ Chapter, 3 Eves Dr., Suite 310, Marlton, NJ 08053.
