Raymond G. King, Educator, Marine, Dies at 67

Services are on Thursday.

Raymond G. King, 67, of Philadelphia, died on Sunday.

He was the husband of Millie M.(nee Urick) King of Haddonfield; father of Kirsten M. and Amanda C., both of Haddonfield and Jason R. (Christine) of New Freedom, PA; grandfather of Brita A. King; son of Amelia(nee Wilson) King of N. Wildwood; and brother of Joseph of Philadelphia and Sandra Marranzini (Ralph) of N. Wildwood.

Mr. King had been an educator with the Philadelphia school system for over 30 years.  After he retired, he was a police officer for seven years.  He also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from 1966-1972 in the 10th Motor Transport. Additionally, he was an avid runner and completed several marathons and ultra-marathons including the 1983 Great Philadelphia to Atlantic City Road Race.

Mr. King’s family and friends are invited to his graveside service at noon on Thursday at the Baptist Cemetery, 402 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. King’s family suggests donations in his name may be made to: Immaculate Heart of Mary School, 95 Fay Martin Road, Richmond, NJ 03470.
