Come to the Haddon Township Planning Board meeting Monday 4/28 7:30 p.m. to express your concern over massive residential redevelopment in Westmont near Haddonfield that was supposed to be a smart development transit villiage with retail and some condos that will now become a massive multi-building, multi-story residential development!

"transit village" ? What's that? I think it means something like "passing through". Was it ever meant to be a village where people just pass through/stay awhile and move on?

It's a good thing...(not transient)..Transit Village is a smart growth initiative, towns can apply for a special pool of State funds annually that are only available to towns that are officially designated as a transit village. Only towns near mass transit can even apply for the designation which allows them to compete for those infrastructure funds. Collingswood is one of the 28 Transit Villiages statewide, but Westmont area of HaddonTwp. would easily qualify to compete for transit village funds since they also have a train station near this development site http://www.state.nj.us/transportation/community/village/

More apartments, more kids...more taxes/traffic. It's going to happen at Brace and Kresson in Cherry Hill, too.

DD - I thank you for that explanation. Now I've learned something. I wonder if Haddon Township has applied for and/or received transit village funds.
