Haddonfield Boys Cross Country Impress at Shore Coaches Inviational

On a hot and sunny early October afternoon, the Haddonfield Boys Varsity Cross Country team ran to an impressive 2nd place finish in the Shore Coaches Invitational, held at the iconic Holmdel Park couse.  Although they placed second to a very strong North Port (NY) team, the Bulldogs took the top spot among all New Jersey teams in the Championship race.

Haddonfield knew they needed to run together as a pack in order to be competitive.  The strategy worked, as their top five runners, Austin Stoner, Greg Pelose, John Greenberg, Matt Stewart, and Alex Gigliotti all finished within 27 seconds of each other.  Haddonfield’s 128 team points placed them one point ahead of 3rd place West Windsor Plainsboro, and 4 points ahead of the second-team runners from Christian Brothers Academy, who placed fourth overall.

On Saturday, October 12th the Bulldogs travel north to the Reebok Manhattan Invitational, held at Van Cortlandt Park in New York.  Once again the boys will run a very challenging course against many of the top high school teams from the northeast.
