Moms Talk: Summer Water Safety Awareness

We want to hear from you. Participate in this installment of Mom's Talk Q&A.

The summer season is in full swing. Kids are keeping active all over the area at local and backyard pools, lakes, and oceans. As a parent of a water bug and daily access to our backyard pool, I am constantly looking for new ways to keep my little man and guests safe.

Over the holiday weekend, I was saddened to hear about several drownings of children in the area and beyond.

During my research for this week's talk I came across Josh's story, which ignited the Josh the Otter campaign for water safety.

Josh slipped out of his family's sight for a few short seconds and was found unconscious in his family's pool. A few days later Josh passed away and his family has made it their mission to keep children safe.

Recently, our family purchased the Josh: The Baby Otter book which is a story about water safety for children that we read to our son a few times a week.

This is just one precaution we have taken to ensure water safety for our son.

Now, it's your turn. I want to hear what you have to say about water safety.

What precautions are you taking with your children around the water?

Do you have a pool alarm system?

What are your pool rules for guests?
