1-Alarm Haddonfield Blaze Sends Firefighter to Hospital

A fire on Moore Lane near Warwick Road Tuesday was quickly brought under control.

A one-alarm fire Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of Moore Lane sent a firefighter to the hospital with a "non-life-threatening" injury, Chief Joe Riggs, of Haddon Fire Company No. 1, said.

The first-responder was take to Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford.

No other injuries were reported. It was also not immediately reported if the home was occupied when the incident occurred.

The smoky blaze was called in at 4:27 p.m. and companies from Cherry Hill and Haddon Heights also responded. Smoke had enveloped the home when firefighters arrived. The blaze was in the basement, Riggs reported.

A compressed-foam suppression system extinguished the flames, but not before "significant smoke damage" to the home occurred, the chief said.
