Camden County authorities are looking for the man second from left in connection with the fatal shooting of a Blackwood Marine in Camden Sunday.

A former Marine who served tours in Afghanistan was killed when he tried to intervene in a fight outside the 20 Horse Tavern in Camden early Sunday morning, Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported.

Timothy Loper Jr., 27, who had addresses in Clementon and Blackwood, was shot multiple times in the bar’s parking lot at 2nd and Spruce streets around 2:46 a.m., Faulk said.

He wasn’t a participant in the fight, beyond trying to break it up, Faulk said.

A man spotted on surveillance video is wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting, Faulk said. He’s shown entering the bar ahead of another man in a Phillies cap; authorities didn’t indicate what role he may have played in the killing.

Loper is the 50th person killed in the city this year; family members and friends mourned him on Facebook and lamented the continued violence in the city.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Detective John Hunsinger at 609-548-1056 or Camden County Police Detective Lou Sanchez at 856-757-7420.
