Drug Deal Ends in Carjacking for Haddonfield Man, Police Say

Austin Goettelmann told officers it was a drug deal gone bad, police said.

A Haddonfield man who went to Camden to sell marijuana Tuesday afternoon was carjacked instead, Camden County Police said.

Austin Goettelmann, 23, told officers three men in a burgundy Nissan Maxima met him in the 2000 block of Ferry Avenue, on the Woodlynne border, but instead of buying his quarter-ounce of weed, stole the drugs and his gold Honda Accord, police said.

Two of the three men held up Goettelmann at gunpoint during the incident, police said.

The carjacking suspects are described by police as a trio of black men; one was about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 170 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black Dickie pants; the second was about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, between 180 and 200 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt; the driver of the car was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, and no other description was available.

Goettelmann was charged with loitering to commit a controlled dangerous substance offense and was released on a court summons.
