Haddonfield Police Blotter, Child Has 5th Bike Stolen

The crimes as they are reported.

The Haddonfield Police reported three thefts, two of frauds, one burglary, one incident of harassment and one recovered property in the period between Feb. 27 to March 7.

At 3:55 p.m. on Friday, March 4, a student at Haddonfield Memorial High School, at 401 Kings Highway East, reported his unlocked bike was stolen. The boy said he rode the Reebok Comfort bike to school in the morning and left it outside. When he returned after classes, the bike was gone. The serial number of the bike was listed in a stolen-items database. The child said it was his fifth bike that was stolen. The report did not list where the previous thefts took place.

Also on March 4, at 11:35 a.m., a borough woman reported receiving a threatening letter while at work in the 100 block of S. Haddon Avenue. The letter was from an acquaintance who lives on Pine Street in Garwood, NJ. The suspect was not identified. The woman was upset by the letter and wanted to report it to police, but did not want to file charges at this time.

Also on Friday, at 3:30 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of Summit Avenue reported a fraudulent charge of $999.46 on her credit card at Walmart stores in Audubon and Woodbury and a Wawa convenience store in Mount Ephraim. The woman said she suspects her daughter’s boyfriend, a resident of Nicholson Road in Audubon.  She had previously signed charges against him for the same allegedly fraudulent use of the card.

On March 1, police recovered a missing scooter in a driveway on Longwood Drive, nearly three hours after it was reported missing from a home in the 400 block of Hillside Lane. A patrolman spotted the scooter at Longwood Drive and the resident there said she didn’t know where it came from. The victim and the scooter were then reunited.

On Feb. 28, a resident in the 100 block of Tavistock Lane reported $8,000 in silverware missing from their home. The resident said it went missing between Dec. 31 and Feb. 8. They said only three people had access to the home over that period of time. There was no sign of forced entry.

On the same day at 2:46 p.m., a resident in the 200 block of Elm Avenue reported two pairs of prescription glasses were stolen overnight from their unlocked 2007 Chevy that was parked in front of their home. The glasses were valued at $650.

At 8:46 a.m. on Feb. 27, a resident in the 200 block of Hopkins Avenue reported a GPS device was stolen overnight from their 2006 Honda parked in the driveway. The report did not indicate if the vehicle was locked.

At 2:56 p.m. on the same day a resident in the 200 block of Peyton Avenue reported she had been the victim of an Internet scam after sending $700 to Nigeria after responding to an ad on Craigslist.  Here is a report on that incident: patch.com/A-f7lj
