Haddonfield Police Blotter: Egged Babysitter and Stolen Bikes

The borough was hit by a number of petty crimes over the weekend.

A burglar made off with $35 and a cigarette rolling machine from a home in the 800 block of Longwood Circle Aug. 13.

The residence was unoccupied with no vehicle in the driveway when the victim left for work at 9:45 p.m. Aug. 12. He returned home at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 13 and went to bed.

The victim awoke that afternoon and noticed his property missing. A quick investigation showed that his bedroom window had been opened slightly; a cigarette lighter that had been in his bedroom was found on the ground outside his bedroom window. All other windows and doors in the home were secure and there were no signs of forced entry.

Police say street visibility near the point at which the burglar entered the home is obscured by some overgrown greenery around the house. The victim’s neighbor reported having heard noises outside around 2 a.m. Aug. 13, but did not investigate.

Other crimes in the borough over the past week included several acts of criminal mischief and a pair of stolen bicycles.
