Haddonfield Police: Eight More Car Burglaries This Week

Six break-ins were reported in on Hillside Lane overnight Tuesday.

A spree of car break-ins on the 300 and 400 blocks of Hillside Lane Tuesday night kept Haddonfield police busy Wednesday.

Four of the six vehicles burglarized on Hillside had been unlocked; the front windows of two other cars belonging to the same household each had been smashed in. The sum total of the stolen property was $13 in change.

Another two vehicles were also burglarized Tuesday: one on Carriage House Lane, and another on Farwood Road, from which $3 in loose change was taken.

In the 400 block of Washington Avenue, a resident reported at 10:23 a.m. Wednesday that her antique diamond engagement ring and antique wedding band were missing from her home. The engagement ring is a 1.63-carat antique with platinum filigree; the wedding band is 14-carat white gold set with five diamonds.

At 12:20 p.m., a man knocked on the front door of a home in the 400 block of Kings Highway. He was apparently intoxicated and stated that he was lost. Police discovered him sitting across the street from the home and took him into custody.

The suspect had an outstanding warrant totaling $35,000 for an offense in Barrington. He was later released from Barrington on his own recognizance.
