'It Sounded Like Gunshots...'

Police check out reports of loud bang.

Haddonfield Police rushed to the area of near Windsor Avenue Thursday night after several reports of "gunfire."

Lt. Ted Stussey said officers responded to a call of what residents said sounded like gunfire shortly before 11:30 p.m., but it was not immediately clear what caused the loud bangs.

"No one could determine what the sound was," he said. "Officers were dispatched around the area but we were not able to determine what caused the noise. They weren't necessarily gunshots. No one could determine that. It could be anything from fireworks to a car backfiring."
