Knife-Point Assault at Haddonfield PATCO Station

The juvenile suspect was handed over to PATCO police, and other police reports.

Haddonfield Police responded to a report of a knife-point assault at Kings Highway East and Chestnut Street at 9:14 p.m. on Saturday, May 19.

Officers found a juvenile suspect near the scene with a pocket knife and later determined the alleged assault happened on the nearby PATCO rail line property. They then handed the suspect over to PATCO police.

Lt. Ted Stussey said the incident was reported by a caller who witnessed the incident. A victim was never located. The incident was listed as "Assist Other Department" on the Haddonfield police report. Stussey said the incident may have been a dispute between the juvenile and another male.

There was no further information in the police report and no information if a charge was filed.

In other police reports, Matthew McGrath, 49, of the unit block of Centre Street in Haddonfield, was arrested on a disorderly persons charge at 1:20 a.m. on Monday, May 21. McGrath was allegedly belligerent and began shouting at a cabbie who said he refused to pay his fare. The incident occurred near his home on Centre Street.

After his arrest, McGrath was taken to a local hospital because of intoxication, the police report said.

A woman in the 100 block of Westmont Avenue reported her wallet was taken from her bedroom during a real estate open house on May 22 at 4 p.m. The wallet contained credit cards and IDs.

A man reported his wallet was taken from his vehicle overnight in the 300 block of Elm Avenue. The wallet contained IDs and credit cards.

A woman reported the driver side window of her car was smashed on May 17 at 10:11 a.m. and her purse was stolen. The car was parked on S. Atlantic Ave. in the Crows Woods parking lot. The purse contained $20 cash, credit cards and IDs.
