Man Bites Clerk During Robbery of Adult Book Store in Haddon Twp.

"The fact that he went from being very calm to bitting the clerk within seconds makes him very dangerous."

Haddon Township police are searching for a man who bit an adult-bookstore clerk during a robbery Thursday.

The man got away with about $48 after asking the clerk for change for a $50 bill. When the clerk made change, the man allegedly leaped at him and began to assault him in a strong-arm robbery, police said. During the struggle, the suspect punched and bit the employee.

The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. at Edward's News Agency on Route 130 near Lincoln Avenue in the West Collingswood section of the township.

"In the video, he seems to be acting appropriately, then all of a sudden, he jumps over the counter bites the clerk twice, grabs money and runs right out the door," said Haddon Township Police Chief Mark Cavallo. "The fact that he went from being very calm to bitting the clerk within seconds makes him very dangerous."
The clerk's condition was not immediately reported, but police did not indicate he was seriously injured.

The man police are looking for arrived and escaped in a small red vehicle that may have been a Toyota Matrix or Prius. The rear passenger wheel may have been a spare tire or missing a hubcap.

He is described as  as a white male, possibly in his late 30s or early 40s, with several tattoos. Police are asking anyone information on the incident to call Det. Sgt. Joseph Johnston at 856-854-1176, Ext. 4135 or email him at JJohnston@Haddontwppolice.com.
