Man Found Dead off 33rd Street is Camden's 51st Killing Victim

The city's 2013 total is still well short of the record set last year.

A man found dead in a grassy area off 33rd Street in Camden Monday has been ruled a homicide, Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported Tuesday.

Charles Barnes Jr., 31, who had been living in Willingboro with relatives, was found dead of a gunshot wound around 9:17 a.m. in an empty lot in the city’s Biedeman neighborhood, near the intersection of 33rd and Farragut Avenue, Faulk said.

Barnes’ killing is the 51st homicide of the year in the city, which set a record last year with 67 homicides.
