Sex Offender Denied Bail Reduction in Walmart Bathroom Incident
Jason M. Kammerer of Woodlynne, a convicted sex offender, won't be staying out of jail pending trial unless he can come up with $25,000, a GlouCo judge said.
A Woodlynne man arrested last week for allegedly attempting to photograph a child in a Walmart bathroom was denied an appeal for reduced bail Friday.
According to a press release from the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, Jason M. Kammerer was labeled "a great danger" by Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Vincent Malfitano in his bail hearing.
Kammerer, a convicted sex offender who has already served five years for child endangerment and possession of child pornography, had sought a reduction in bail from $25,000 to $10,000.

His attorney told Superior Court Judge Walter L. Marshall that Kammerer is "a trained machinist who is 'employable'" and was arrested on his way back from a job interview, according to the press release.
Judge Marshall agreed with Malfitano's assessment, however, and in addition to denying the bail reduction ordered Kammerer to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet if he does make bail. In addition to his stint in prison, Kammerer also has a parole violation on his record, which Marshall said "is a concern."
