Suspect Sought in Friday's Aldi Robbery

Collingswood police have released surveillance footage of the man eyewitnesses say stole a drawerful of cash at the Aldi supermarket Friday.

have confirmed reports of  and are asking for help identifying the man they believe committed the crime.

The suspect is a thinly built white male between 20 and 30 years old. He is 6 feet tall and sports a beard, goatee or some sort of unshaven facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a Raul Ibanez Phillies road jersey (gray with the number 29), a red Phillies hat, dark jeans and black sneakers with white trim. He was armed with a silver handgun.

According to police reports, the man entered the supermarket and got in line with a candy bar. When the cashier rang him up, he allegedly tried to reach over her and grab the cash in the drawer.

Police say the cashier tried to block the robber with her body, and he pulled out a gun, grabbed the money and ran from the store. Witnesses say he left in a blue or black Jeep, partial license plate number K-Y-W, on Ferry Avenue in the direction of Mt. Ephraim Avenue, toward Camden.
