Suspect Spotted Trying Doors in Apartment Building

Police also report two car burglaries, a commercial theft and yet another street sign theft.

A resident of an apartment building in the 300 block of Kings Highway East reported seeing a man trying doors in his building around 9:30 a.m. on Monday.

The suspect walked into the vestibule of the building and then started turning door knobs in an apparent effort to enter an apartment, the eyewitness told police. The man left without any reported theft.

The suspect is described as a "dark-skinned white man, wearing a shirt with multiple logos on the back and dark pants."

In other reports:

  • Eight square, black rubber mats were reported stolen from a business in the 100 block of Ellis St. at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The mats are valued at $360.
  • A GPS and $15 was reported stolen from an unlocked Honda in the 100 block of Colonial Ave. on Sept. 5. Another unlocked car on the street was also entered but nothing was taken.
  • Two street signs were reported stolen from the corner of Washington and W. Cottage avenues on Sept. 6. Dozens of street signs and other metal objects have been stolen from the borough over the past year.
