Code Blue Extended Through Tuesday Morning as More Snow Looms

Another storm is expected from Sunday night through Monday night.

The Code Blue Severe Weather Advisory has been extended through Tuesday morning, Camden County officials announced Thursday afternoon.

The advisory, originally set to expire Thursday morning, was extended continuously through 7 a.m. Saturday morning, and will also be in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday night through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Frigid temperatures are expected to sweep across the region, and snow and mixed precipitation are expected to cover the area Sunday night through Monday night.

Accumulation and icing is expected, though specifics were still unclear on Thursday.

“Again, we will see more extreme conditions producing more snow and ice that will stretch into next week creating a public health challenge,” Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Health Department, said. “With treacherous weather on the way, we need everyone to be sheltered and out of the elements.”

Each municipality has identified its own location to accommodate those in their community seeking shelter from the severe weather. Persons seeking shelter in a warming center should contact their local municipality.

“During these weather emergencies, we encourage everyone to check on elderly or handicapped relatives and neighbors that live alone,” Rodriguez said. “It is important that most vulnerable among us are not left without heat or electricity.”
